Internships

Library and Information Science Graduate Students

The UC Irvine Libraries offer internships for students enrolled in ALA accredited library and information science graduate programs. More information about the MLIS internship program is available on the Libraries’ internship webpage.

UCI Graduate and Undergraduate Students

The Department of Special Collections & Archives and the OC&SEAA Center work with graduate and undergraduate students at UC Irvine to design internships in collaboration with academic units on campus, including History, Art & Art History, Asian American Studies, Chicano/Latino Studies, and African American Studies. These internships typically are offered for course credit and typically 10 weeks to complete, although funding may be available for short-term paid opportunities. Please contact us at ocseaa@uci.edu or spcoll@uci.edu for more information.

Internships provide students with opportunities to expand their knowledge and training, including:

  • Archival standards, methods, and procedures
  • Planning and curating exhibits
  • Digitization and digital humanities projects
  • Web archiving
  • Oral history
  • Community-centered archives
  • Historical research and documentation
